The monkeypox virus
The symptoms of monkey pox disease are quite similar to the smallpox virus. However, the good news is that they are less severe.
MPOX spreads from person to person and from animal to person as well. The virus results in painful lesions on the skin and genitals as well.
What Does Monkey Pox Look Like
Monkeypox looks like a rash or a puss-filled sore. In the initial stages, the rash looks like a blister or a pimple. Later it becomes bumpy and painful.
As the virus begins what appears is just a small red patch, flat macule or a spot. As it matures it takes the form of vesicles, blisters or pustules.
In the recovery phase, the lesions develop a crust on them. Later new skin takes over the crusted skin.
